Paying homage to the long-awaited Year of the Dragon, our display is inspired by the Chinese folk tale of the Dragon and the Pearl. In this story, a boy finds a pearl and hides it in a sack of rice, which overflows and enables the boy to help feed all the people of the land. The boy swallows the pearl to keep it from the greedy emperor, and then transforms into a kind dragon who protects all those around him.

‘Behold the cheerful children performing a traditional Lunar New Year dragon dance. The leader holds an ornamental object representing a pearl while the others make the 44-foot mythical creature dance overhead to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune for the coming year.

Representing connection and unity, a brilliant red wooden structure stretches out over the gentle stream below. Arch bridges are among the oldest types of their kind and have great natural strength.
